Important Information and School Policies:

Office– The office is open each day from 7:15 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Please call the office with questions or concerns at 770-651-3900. You can contact your child’s teacher through email, voice mail or notes in the daily communication folder.  

Arrival & Visitors –No student will be permitted in the school building before 7:15 a.m.  There are no school personnel on duty to monitor students before 7:15.  All students who are car riders are to be dropped off in the car rider’s lane (right side of the school).  Students must not be dropped off at any other point around the building.  Parents who need to come into the school should park in the front parking lot and report to the office.  Visitors/parents are not allowed in school hallways or classrooms unless they have a scheduled appointment. You must wear the Visitor's Pass to go down the hall.

Transportation Changes For the safety of your child, all transportation changes must be in writing and signed by a parent/guardian. Write a note or send an e-mail to  fannie.kithas@douglas.k12.ga.us, call her at 770-651-3908, or fax to 770-651-3999 by 2 pm.  PLEASE DO NOT E-MAIL YOUR CHILD'S TEACHER WITH THESE CHANGES. We will not accept the word of a child concerning these changes.

Student Pick-up – Early check-out stops at 2:15 pm and is strictly enforced. After 2:15, you must wait in the car rider line. If an emergency arises, you must fax or email the transportation changes by 2:00 pm to allow the teacher ample time to make the change. Non-emergency situations will be asked to wait until after car riders are called before students are called to the office.  At 3:15, students not picked up will be sent to ASP and fees apply ($10 one-time registration and $8 per day per child). Payment is expected on the day of service.

Breakfast – We serve a nutritious hot breakfast daily for our students; however, your child must be in the breakfast line by 7:45. Please drop off your child by 7:40 am if you need him/her to eat school breakfast. Classroom instruction begins promptly at 8:00 am.

Classroom Questions – Please speak directly to your child’s teacher about classroom concerns. The best way to reach the teacher is through school email or a phone call. You may call the teacher’s direct phone line at any time and leave a message. The teacher will return your call within 24 hours. All face to face conferences must be prearranged; no drop-ins are permitted.  Your teacher’s first priority is teaching the children and helping them grow.

Attendance & Tardies – Send your notes or doctor excuses within three days of the absence. Students are tardy if they are not in their classroom by 8:00 am for instruction. If your child is tardy, please escort them to the front office to check-in and get a tardy pass.  Parents/guardians who continually check their children in late will be referred to the school social worker.
