It's All About Safety!

                      Dolphin Family Car Rider Parents,

In order to ensure the safety of your child/children each morning and

afternoon; please note the following protocols for our car rider lane.

This is to provide clarity as there are differing procedures for morning and afternoon:

·         Doors open at 7:15. Please remain in your car and wait to pull up to the curb to unload. Our student safety patrol is on assignment to open doors to provide assistance with students when needed. These students have been instructed to open doors when cars are completely stopped.

·         Please be patient and do not pass cars in the unloading area. Cones are placed to prevent passing in the morning. Pull forward as directed by staff.

·         All car riders should be dropped off in the car rider lane 7:15 – 7:55 a.m. Special needs buses and students use the front entrance to unload in the morning. This is reserved specifically for those students during this time.

·         Cones are placed in the right lane at 7:55. At this time, please proceed to the front entrance and walk your student to the front door to be “buzzed” in. At 8:00 a.m. your child is late and will need to be escorted by a parent or guardian into the office for their tardy slip.

·         Dismissal begins at 2:45 p.m. Kindergarten students arrive a few minutes early and may be loaded if escorted by an adult.

·         Each car rider family is assigned a number. The student is called outside as the parent approaches the loading area. Please continue to pull forward as the line moves or as directed by a staff member.

·         If an adult is present a student may be loaded past the numbered positions to help with the flow of traffic as some of the younger students require extra time to load.

·         Passing other vehicles is prohibited in the sense of going out of the line order. However, unlike the morning when students are dropped off, there are times we are waiting for a student to come from other parts of the building. In this case, in order to keep traffic flowing you may be directed by a staff member to proceed to the left to leave the line. Please follow the directions of the staff members.

·         At 3:00 p.m. your child will be escorted to the office to be checked out by the parent or sent to ASP as directed by the office.

As a general rule, a crosswalk has been added for all pedestrians to cross at a central point. Pedestrians have been directed to wait for the line to stop completely before crossing. Courteous and kind behavior is expected by all on school property. Thanks to all of you who are courteous and drive carefully every day to keep our staff and students safe!
